Walking into the villa I was drawn immediately to the long pool that runs across the garden. Lined with green stone from Java it was so inviting that I just had to jump straight in. So refreshing. At the far end, it is 14m long, I walked across the lawn to the timber decking that perches over the edge and lay on a sun lounger as the sun gently dipped into the ocean, wrapped in my own thoughts If the art of beach side living is all about escape, Villa Maya is a master. |

There are 3 bedrooms in the two story villa with the master suite occupying the entire upstairs. It has a lovely balcony accessed by floor to ceiling glass windows. The two other bedroom suites are on the ground floor either side of the sitting room. At the villa end of the pool is a jacuzzi that ventures into the sitting room through open windows. |

But it is the garden where you will spend most of the time. There is a traditional pagoda, known locally as a bale, where you will siesta. There are sun loungers for those tanning moments. The timber deck is for sunset, as well as sunrise if you are in the mood, and for any other time when gazing out to sea is the need of the hour. There is the alfresco dining pavilion which overlooks the ocean, and there is the pool. |

Of all the villas I have seen, Villa Maya is honestly one of those that I will keep coming back to. Simple, stylish, unpretentious and in a fabulous lcoation. It is great to get away on a romantic holiday as well as one with the kids. |
